In the 1970s there was a resurgence of the Victorian style in fashion. Satin and lace, ruffles and ribbons, high necks and pearl buttons. Jessica MacClintock was designing them for Gunne Sax and another big label at the time was Yofi. A friend of my sisters, Marcia, bought this dress for her wedding at a Yofi shop in Vancouver in the 1970s. The lace is soft and delicate, with a high neck, a ruffle at the square yoke and another at the waist like a peplum. The waistband and sleeve cuffs are embroidered lace. Lovely and romantic, perfect for an outdoor wedding in the sun.
The dress zips up the back with a 17.5” Zipper and finishes at the top with a 6.25” of buttons. Sleeves have lovely 2 button cuffs. Skirt is fully lined.
