1950s Black Velvet dress with Puff Sleeves, Size S
This gorgeous little dress is a favourite of mine. Sometimes we get to meet the loveliest people who bring in their clothes and such is the case with Phyllis, the original owner of this dress. I’ve met her twice now and she is a classy lady who remembers all the timelines and stories that come with each piece. She wore this dress before she was married in the 50s and she has hung onto all this time because it reminds her of happy times. Now she wants it to make new memories and make someone else happy - isn’t that sweet?
Meaurements are 34/26.5/37. Fabric is a cotton velveteen and it is lined from the below the bodice to the hip with a lining that feels like acetate. There is a crossover detail below the bust and two rhinestone buttons hold them against the dress. One rhinestone is missing from the lower part of one button but it is not distracting. The flattering bateau neckline dips to a deep V in the back and there is a 17” metal zipper closure. Darling puff sleeves are gathered onto narrow cuffs. The total length of the dress is 37.5” from shoulder to hem. It is in really great condition with no stains, smells or mends that I can see.
