Wartime Brown Corde Clutch Purse, 1940s Corde Clutch

1940s corde clutch with intricate handmade design on the fold over. This is a simple envelope style with just one snap to hold it closed. These corde purses were made in the 1940s when leather would be put to a better purpose and I just love the ingenuity of the use of corde as a replacement material. These make a handsome and interesting finish to an outfit and can also be used as keepsake holders or a wallet within a larger bag.
