1960s Mohair Pencil skirt

Classic cream pencil skirt in what looks and feels like a soft mohair or mohair/wool blend - there are no tags so I can't be sure of the blend but it is soft and curly as opposed to scratchy and itchy.  The skirt may have been home made, but  the edge of the waistband is serged which is uncommon in home made items in the 1960s so I think it is factory made and the tags removed when the waist band was made smaller at some point (there is some evidence that it was taken in and shortened at some point. There is a lining on the back of the skirt from the waist to just above the kick-out pleat at the hemline.  There are four fitting darts on both the front and the back of the skirt and a metal zipper marked ALCO, made in Germany.  interior seams have been zigzag trimmed. 

Please be sure to read the measurements below and compare them with your own measurements (allowing for some wiggle room to move in) and comparing the measurements with another similar skirt or dress in your wardrobe would also give you an idea of the fit of the skirt.  The skirt is in very good, clean condition and is ready to wear.
